New Message - The Global Challenge

In 1974, the Arecibo Observatory made history by beaming the most powerful radio message into deep space ever made. The famous Arecibo Message was designed by the AO 74’s staff, led by Frank Drake, and with the help of the astronomer and famed science communicator Carl Sagan. On Friday, August 3, the students from the summer program called Research Experience for Undergraduates & Teachers, better known as REUT, presented their work to their mentors and the rest of the Arecibo Observatory (AO) staff. During this summer, undergraduate students and teachers selected for the program worked with staff scientists on projects related to ongoing research or instrumentation development. Read More
